More Iceland Adventures

With our drive around the Ring Road being complete we unfortunately had to return Fifi But our Iceland adventure was not quite over. We had yet explore Reykjavik. We had rented an apartment not far from the famous Hallgrimskirkja. It’s the well known Lutheran church visible throughout the city. The inside of the church is gothic style and is very plain and sparse looking.

We quickly dropped off our luggage in search of something to eat. That turned out to be Reykjavik Fish which was just down the street. We headed there for lunch, and we all enjoyed our food. The arctic char and the mixed sea food dishes are our recommendations. And as a bonus they have gluten-free beer.

We then did our own version of the Rick Steves walking tour. Dan was able to provide the commentary as we walked around the city.

We had dinner at the ROK restaurant. After that I had enough. Walking on the concrete all day had done me in.

The next day, we wanted to go to the Saga Museum, where they bring the Viking age to life. They use life-size silicone figures and at one point Dan and I both thought one of the figures was breathing. I guess Will was still distracted from the figure of the woman showing her breast to notice.

Well, Will got breasts to stare at. So, our next stop was the Icelandic Phallological Museum. Yes, my friends, the Penis Museum. It is the only museum of its kind in the world. The museum brings humor as well as a lot of educational knowledge about sizes, shapes of the male organ, including mating habits of the animal kingdom. It was quite interesting.

We happened to be in Reykjavik at the same time that Pride Week was happening. So, we went to the parade and then attended some of the concert in the park afterward. It was actually a sunny day, and we were baking in the sun. So, we left the park for one more dinner at Reykjavik Fish.

Will and I had to get up super early the next morning and meet the bus back to the airport at 4am. We were headed on to the next part of our journey. Dan was leaving later that day, but he sadly was headed home and back to work.
